PURPOSE OF MISSIONS EQUIPPING MOBILIZATION

  • PURPOSE
  • To help equip the mission of Christ's Church for proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom to the ends of the earth and helping further the Kingdom to the Glory of God.
  • CONCEPT
  • This is a ministry of finding and providing materials that are needed on the mission field to help equip the mission of the Christ's church. It (1) networks with missionaries, mission leaders, and national Christian workers to supply their material needs to further their mission work for Christ. It is developing (2) a network of Christian business leaders, churches, and friends of the ministry that would be utilized to find the resources needed and provide a prayer base. Resources, equipment, and supplies are being provided at the lowest cost possible including establishing (3) a transportation network as a means of shipping at low cost. This ministry focuses on equipping Christians who combine evangelism and ministry in their mission work.
  • SUPERSTRUCTURE
  • An office and communication system are set up utilizing computer, fax, internet with website, mail, and phone. This is to maintain the three networks and maintain a database of items available to mission personnel. The office and a warehouse is set up in the northern Indiana area in the center of a large industrial base including Chicago, Detroit, and Indianapolis where there are a lot of Christian business leaders. A warehouse for gathering, preparation, staging, and shipping of materials has been established on State Road 15 about 1 mile north of U.S. 6. The ministry and finances are handled as a Division of the non-profit organization: Promised Land Ministries, Inc.
  • NETWORKING
  • Materials that are often needed on the mission field include not only medical / dental equipment and supplies, but also school equipment, books & furnishings, office, printing, & electronics equipment, agricultural tools & implements, well & irrigation equipment, construction supplies & machinery, transportation equipment & vehicles, environmental & energy-producing equipment. A network using the internet to send out the needs is being set up with the business leaders and others to find new or used equipment that would be donated or purchased near cost. Sources of finding the needed materials is business, government & school auctions, estate auctions, store closings, hospitals, universities, contractors, publications, churches, warehouse and storage facilities, Christian business owners, etc. An emphasis is on recycling, re-using, good stewardship, and environmental protection. Some examples would be utilizing technology which is outdated here but is an advancement there and helping missions in underdeveloped countries develop means of producing their own renewable energy resources, like methane, wind, and solar.
  • UTILIZATION AND INTERPRETATION
  • Advocacy, appropriate technology development, sharing of things that work well, and training are offered to better utilize the materials provided. Interpretation of the work of missions and encouraging support of missions is an ongoing part of the ministry in the U.S. as we build the network through church connections.
  • ABOUT THE FOUNDER-- Rev. Kent G. Biller
  • My Calling
  • I believe I have been called by God to this ministry and am uniquely equipped for this ministry. As I was doing career evaluation a few years ago, I looked at my passions, my experience, and my interests, and they dovetailed together into a vision of this ministry when I heard about a similar ministry in Virginia: Equipping the Saints. The leader of that ministry even offered to train people how to do it. I had been waiting for God to confirm my vision and open the doors as I have been working at a mission literature supply ministry called World Missionary Press. God has been opening many doors starting in the fall of 2003.
  • My Passions & Abilities
  • I have had a passion for missions since I was a youth and attended the Urbana Missions Conference for college students. My spiritual gifts of compassion, administration, teaching, and giving would all be utilized. My special abilities and interests include humanitarian, high intelligence, problem-solving, research, business detail, determination, recycling, and mechanically- & musically-inclined.
  • My Experience
  • My experience as an ordained pastor for 21 years and in mission support for particularly the last 14 years has uniquely prepared me for this ministry of mission supply. I have been extensively involved in mission administrative work on the district, conference and ecumenical levels, such as the North Indiana Conference Hunger Concerns Coordinator, District Secretary of Global Ministries, and Chair of the Hunger Education Task Force for the United Religious Community of St. Joseph County. Mission tours and workcamps have also been part of my experience. I also grew up on a farm and have worked in factories, sales, and a hospital. My wife is a nurse. I have been developing my computer / internet abilities through a number of training opportunities. I have worked with volunteers, mission promotion, audio-visual productions, and publishing.
  • Finding a Need and Filling It
  • Putting these things together made it seem like this missions supply ministry was a good fit for me. I am exploring new ideas about how to go about doing many of these things. This ministry is fulfilling a number of needs: Missionaries and national Christian workers need resources for their ministries, and there are very few supply ministries out there to meet those needs. Christians need a ministry in which they can use their gifts, talents, and resources. Christian businesses need a place to donate unneeded or outdated items. Landfill space need would be less. A network is needed to connect the haves and have nots. In fact, my original name for this ministry was Waste Not, Want Not, Inc. If we don't waste the enormous resources we have in the U.S., there won't be as much want.

    To God be the glory!
